Why Hydroponics?
Twice to ten times the yield in half the space and half the time
What is Hydroponics
Hydroponics is simply growing plants without soil. Its a system of cultivation dating back 6,500 years and includes the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. The plants are grown in a sterile growing medium and fed a mixture of water and nutrients. The idea is a simple one - plants grown in soil have to use energy to build their root system in order to search for water, nutrients and air, meaning there is less energy available for fruit, leaf and flower development.
The Benefits of Hydroponics
Hydroponically grown plants grow fast with fabulous yields, looks and flavour. Because they dont have to continually grow in search of nutrients more plants can be grown in a smaller area.90% of fresh cut flowers bought in the UK are grown hydroponically About 65% of all fruit and vegetables sold in supermarkets in the UK are grown hydroponically Although much of today's technology was developed by NASA as part of the space programme for growing fresh fruit and vegetables in space, hydroponics is NOT rocket science.
Hydroponics is easy, fun and tremendously satifying! Why not try it?
